Manufacturing Process
- Clay Preparation and Shaping: The process begins with selecting and kneading clay to ensure a smooth, air-free texture. Artisans shape it into forms using techniques like hand-building, moulding, or wheel-throwing, balancing precision and creativity.
- Drying: Shaped pieces are left to dry gradually. Initially, they reach a semi-firm stage, suitable for refining details and adding embellishments. Once fully dried and rigid, they are ready for the kiln.
- First Firing (Bisque): The fully dried ceramics are fired in a kiln, transforming them into bisque ware—a hardened yet porous state, ideal for absorbing glaze.
- Glazing Application: Artisans carefully apply coloured and clear glaze through dipping, brushing, or spraying, creating intricate patterns and preparing the surface for its final transformation.
- Second Firing (Glaze Firing): The glazed pieces are fired again at higher temperatures, fusing the glaze into a glossy, durable finish that enhances both beauty and function.
- Final Finishing: Once cooled, the ceramics are inspected, smoothed, and polished to perfection, ready to serve as elegant decorative or functional art.
