German Silver was developed during end of 18th century by German metal workers. It is popularly known as nickel silver and made using Copper, zinc and Nickel. German silver can be used to make various products such as silverware, cutlery, silver table ware and decorative silver accents. Manufacturing Process
- Blending of Metal: In this process, various metals are blended in exact proportion to create a required alloy composition.
- Melting & Casting: After blending, the mix is melted in a high-temperature furnace. Once converted into liquid, it is poured into moulds or precast into sheets that serve as the base material for further processing.
- Forming & Shaping: These sheets are then shaped into intricate designs using methods such as rolling, machining, or forging. Patterns are embossed on the tray and glass jars made of German silver. Floral themes and cultural motifs are carefully handcrafted onto the surface.
- Finishing: After shaping, the German silver products undergo final finishing, which includes polishing, plating, and engraving to enhance their appearance and functionality.
