Preserving Timeless Traditions of Craftsmanship
Manufacturing Process
- Preparing the Material: A mix of quartz powder, ground glass, saji, katira gond, and multani mitti is combined into a smooth dough and left to rest.
- Making the Mold: Moulds made from Plaster of Paris are dried and used to shape the dough.
- Forming the Product: The dough is rolled, pressed into the mould with burnt wood dust, and left to dry in open air.
- Smoothening: Rough edges are smoothed with an emery stone and sandpaper, and pores are filled using slurry. This process is repeated twice or thrice for the best finishing.
- Painting & Colouring: Products are hand-painted with traditional motifs and patterns. They start with outlines and then fill in the colours inside. These colours are oxides of ferrometals mixed with edible gum for binding.
- Glazing: A glaze made from powdered glass and other materials is applied evenly to the product and set to dry before firing.
- Firing: The pottery is fired in a traditional kiln for 4-5 hours; controlled low temperature is maintained to avoid cracks. The kiln is left for cooling for 2-3 days and then products are taken out.

- Handle with Care: Blue pottery is delicate and can break easily. Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive materials and harsh chemicals as they may damage the surface.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose to extreme temperatures, as rapid changes can cause cracking. Also, avoid using it in a microwave and dishwasher.
- Handcrafted Variations: Each product may feature slight variations in colour or craftsmanship, which add to its uniqueness and should not be seen as defects.
- Image Discrepancies: Due to variations in screen resolutions, images may differ from the actual product.
