Cultural Significance
Kerala’s houseboat, the Kettuvallam, was originally designed to transport heavy cargo. In Malayalam, 'Kettu' means "to tie" and 'vallam' means "boat." A British man suggested the idea of adding roofs, leading to the development of floating homes. Today, these boats blend modern comforts with traditional architecture, offering a range of options.
