Preserving timeless craftsmanship
Traditional metal utensils have been used in the Indian kitchen for a long time, not just because of their durability but also because of their health benefits. Kansa, known as Bronze, is good for drinking water as it balances acidity and improves digestion. Kansa doesn’t leach any harmful substances into the food, which makes it a safe and sustainable choice.
Handcrafted by skilled artisans, Kansa Glass reflects elegant artistry that has been passed down through generations. These utensils remind us that tradition and wellness go hand in hand in cooking wholesome meals and savouring a refreshing drink. Kansa is not just a lifestyle choice but preserving age-old wisdom and bringing holistic living into daily life.
Manufacturing Process
- Preparation of Alloy and Melting: Kansa is created by melting copper and tin in an induction furnace using medium-frequency heating. This ensures uniform heating and reduced impurities. Once fully molten, the alloy is thoroughly mixed and its composition is verified before casting.
- Casting: The molten Kansa is poured into preheated metal molds using gravity or die-casting methods to form the desired shape. After cooling, the casting is removed for further processing.
- Shaping and Machining: The rough casting is reshaped using hammers, followed by precision machining to achieve accurate dimensions and the final product form.
- Finishing: Abrasive tools are used to smooth the surface, followed by buffing to achieve a clean, polished finish.
- Cleaning / Quality Control: Ultrasonic cleaners are used to remove any residues. Each piece then undergoes a quality check to ensure accuracy and compliance with food safety standards.
Note
- Hand Wash: Clean Kansa products using mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Avoid harsh detergents, as they can damage the natural finish. Do not wash in a dishwasher to prevent potential damage.
- Dry After Washing: Use a soft cloth to dry Kansa items after washing to prevent water spots and maintain their natural sheen.
- Occasional Polish: Kansa naturally develops a patina over time. To restore its shine, polish it occasionally using a mixture of tamarind paste and flour.
- Avoid Prolonged Contact with Acidic Foods: Acidic foods like lemon juice, tomatoes, and tamarind can react with Kansa. Do not store them in Kansa ware for long; serve briefly, then clean and dry promptly.
