Cultural Significance
Boat making has been a vital part of Kerala's history, closely connected to the vibrant tradition of snake boat racing. During the festival, boats like Chundan, Palliyodam, and Iruttu Kuthi bring a festive atmosphere. This tradition, over 400 years old, traces back to Alleppey, where these boats were once used in war.
