Handcrafted from pure kansa (bronze/bell metal) - the Ayurvedic metal of choice for centuries across Indian households and Ayurvedic practitioners - this classic thali set includes one Belgian thali, one kansa glass, one spoon, two serving bowls, and one dessert bowl. Each piece is hand-finished with a smooth, lustrous surface that reflects the mastery of traditional Indian bell metal craftsmanship. Kansa is recognised in Ayurvedic texts for its natural ability to balance the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), aid healthy digestion, purify water and food, and contribute to overall holistic wellness.

Preserving timeless craftsmanship
Manufacturing Process
- Preparation of Alloy and Melting: Kansa is made using copper and tin. These metals are melted in an induction furnace using medium-frequency induction heating to ensure uniform heating and reduce impurities. In a fully molten state, the alloy is thoroughly mixed and its composition is verified before casting.
- Casting: The molten Kansa is poured into preheated metal moulds using gravity or die-casting methods to give the product its shape. Once cooled, the casting is removed for further processing.
- Shaping and Machining: The rough casting is reshaped with hammers, followed by precision measurements. A machining centre is then used to form the final product, especially for massage tools.
- Finishing: Abrasive tools are used to smooth the surface, followed by buffing for a clean and polished finish.
- Cleaning/Quality Control: Ultrasonic cleaners are used to remove any remaining residues. Each piece undergoes a quality control check to ensure accuracy and compliance with food safety standards.
Note
- Hand wash: Clean Kansa products using mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Avoid harsh detergents and do not use a dishwasher, as it may damage the natural finish.
- Dry after washing: After washing, dry Kansa products with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and maintain their natural sheen.
- Occasional Polish: Kansa develops a natural patina over time. To restore its shine, polish occasionally using a mixture of tamarind paste and flour.
- Avoid prolonged contact with acidic foods: Acidic foods like lemon juice, tomatoes, and tamarind may react with Kansa. Serve them briefly and clean the product soon after use.
