Preserving timeless craftsmanship
Manufacturing Process
- Preparation of Alloy and Melting: Kansa is made using copper and tin. These metals are melted in an induction furnace using medium-frequency induction heating to ensure uniform heating and reduce impurities. In a fully molten state, the alloy is thoroughly mixed and its composition is verified before casting.
- Casting: The molten Kansa is poured into preheated metal moulds using gravity or die-casting methods to give the product its shape. Once cooled, the casting is removed for further processing.
- Shaping and Machining: The rough casting is reshaped with hammers, followed by precision measurements. A machining centre is then used to form the final product, especially for massage tools.
- Finishing: Abrasive tools are used to smooth the surface, followed by buffing for a clean and polished finish.
- Cleaning/Quality Control: Ultrasonic cleaners are used to remove any remaining residues. Each piece undergoes a quality control check to ensure accuracy and compliance with food safety standards.
Note
- Hand wash: Clean Kansa products using mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Avoid harsh detergents and do not use a dishwasher, as it may damage the natural finish.
- Dry after washing: After washing, dry Kansa products with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and maintain their natural sheen.
- Occasional Polish: Kansa develops a natural patina over time. To restore its shine, polish occasionally using a mixture of tamarind paste and flour.
- Avoid prolonged contact with acidic foods: Acidic foods like lemon juice, tomatoes, and tamarind may react with Kansa. Serve them briefly and clean the product soon after use.
